HISTORY OF WYANDOTTE The Wyandotte Alarm Company was established in December 1966. At that time, the need for electronic security in the suburban Detroit area was growing, and most small commercial establishments wanted, "police station connected alarm systems." As Wyandotte Alarm's business expanded, more and more of these systems were installed throughout the suburbs. As our reputation grew, larger users of security systems contacted Wyandotte Alarm, and this made it necessary for us to establish our own central station for monitoring our alarm systems. This also allowed us to accommodate the various specialized needs of our larger customers. We foresaw the demand for multiple zone alarm monitoring for fire alarm systems and large facilities. Some of these larger facilities required the tracking of opening and closing signals via user codes, as well as diagnostic tests performed on a regular basis. We have the equipment and facilities necessary to efficiently monitor and service our existing and future customers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In 1975, Wyandotte Alarm opened its own central station and started monitoring its own customers. It gained immediate approval by Underwriters Laboratories for burglary and fire alarm installations, and approval by Factory Mutual for the monitoring of large industrial fire alarm systems. This was a first for the Detroit market area. Our central station features a redundant set of computers to ensure that no signal can be lost at any time. We also have dual stand-by generators to make certain that our power is never interrupted, which a requirement by both UL and FM inspection agencies. Today Wyandotte Alarm monitors over 7,000 central station systems, and employs 45 people on a full-time basis. We do not sub-contract our installation or monitoring services to other companies as is common in our industry today. We are a true electronic security company with all of the credentials. We install, monitor, and maintain Defense Industrial Security Systems, meet the NISPOM requirements, and issue UL 2050 certificates. We also have all necessary approvals for any insurance underwriter. Wyandotte Alarm installs an average of 600 new systems per year, and specializes in state-of-the-art equipment to provide the most reliable form of protection available. All security devices are thoroughly field tested to make sure that we are installing reliable equipment that is the best value for your money. We also offer a long-range radio network now covering 95% of the state of Michigan. This new radio has become a cost-effective back-up to the existing dedicated telephone lines. We are an exclusive distributor of First Alert Professional products, and we are proud to have been named one of the original First Alert security dealers in Southeast Michigan. First Alert designs some of the most advanced security systems available today. Their alarm control panels include many features that make operation of the security system friendly, powerful, and reliable. By allowing Wyandotte Alarm to be your security contractor you will begin a relationship of dealing with people who are truly knowledgeable of your security needs. We have the people in place and the products available to make every installation an easy, trouble-free experience. We look forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with you or your company.
